Microplastics, macro problems?

Microplastics

They are very small and most of the time even invisible to the naked eye, the pollution of microplastics is increasingly worrying. Scientists are beginning to address this issue and are highlighting the risks that these micro and nano particles pose not only to the environment, but also to human health. While science continues its research, it is important to implement solutions as soon as possible.

⚖️ Regulate: An international treaty against plastic pollution is a necessary tool to establish global rules to eliminate plastic and microplastic pollution.

✋ Refuse or chose ♾️ Reuse: As consumers, being an individual or any kind of organization, we have the power to change consumption patterns. The ” throw away” culture must end, especially as plastic recycling does not live up to its promise. Furthermore, single-use packaging accounts for almost 50% of plastic production, so it is imperative to stop the flow of these items that end up in the trash after just one use.

🤔 Rethink: In the perspective of a plastic transition, this material must be rethought at the design stage by manufacturers. If plastic can be replaced, by what material? If plastic can’t be replaced, how can we make it as healthy and environment friendly as possible? The problem is complex, but it is our duty to implement actions that will preserve the environment and human health.
