Anne-Leila MEISTERTZHEIM is a doctor of marine biology. Her entrepreneurial spirit and her desire to advance society led her in 2018 to co-found Plastic@Sea, based in Banyuls-sur-Mer, with Jean-François GHIGLIONE (Microbial Ecotoxicology, DR CNRS), whose expertise in the future and effects of plastics in marine ecosystems is now internationally recognized.
Her organization coordinates several projects on the study of the colonization, biodegradability and toxicity of plastics at sea (ANR-OXOMAR, EC2CO-PLASTICMICRO, Ministère-MICROBEADS, Ministère-BIOTIGES), but also various actions with foundations and NGOs including the Odyssée Race For Water. They also carried out several actions with the French Ministry of Ecological and Solidarity Transition.
Their actions also aim to disseminate knowledge to the general public.
Anne-Leila has been a member of the Race for Water Foundation’s College of Experts since December 2019.
