Marching ever forward
1,150 miles lay ahead of the hybrid propulsion catamaran, Race for Water, before she makes landfall in Papeete. The latter is making headway downwind pushed along by a steady breeze of 30 to 40 knots. “There are short, cross seas”, explains Annabelle Le Boudinot, second in command, “all of which is due to a low pressure system that is deeper than forecast and located to our north.”
It’s not a very comfortable situation for the crew led by Pascal Morizot, but it is certainly not affecting their morale or their dynamism!
Annabelle Le Boudinot: “Over the past few days, we have racked up 4 flights to our credit with the equipment provided by our partner Skysails, as well as 2 more sampling sessions within the context of our “Plastisphère” scientific mission. And oh what a lovely surprise, there is less plastic than during our previous sampling! Our present environment means that Race for Water is moving around a lot and the autopilot is spinning out quite a bit. It’s quite time-consuming and tiring. Roll on our arrival!”
Race for Water is expected in Papeete marina in early October for a month-long stopover.
