Refinement and sharing

Marco Simeoni and the Race for Water teams took up the kind invitation from their partner BREGUET and visited the factory located in the Joux Valley in Switzerland.

Over the course of the visit, Marco Simeoni familiarized himself with the manufacturing process for making a mechanical watch, from cutting the metal to machining the high-precision elements, to the decoration, the assembly and the tests. “I was impressed to find a combination of high-precision equipment and ancient technologies spanning two centuries here at the Breguet factory”, explains Marco.

In this way, Breguet showed the Race for Water team its various vortex movements, from the traditional manual winding mechanism to the latest ultrafine tourbillon equipped with silicon components. Over 200 years on from the invention of the Tourbillon, Breguet is continuing the creative genius of its founder, Abraham-Louis Breguet, by offering a vast collection of timepieces with a magnificent movement.

“What strikes me is the passion and the authenticity. It’s also the marriage of new technologies together with the craftsman aspect. All this expertise has been able to be preserved. If I draw parallels between the environment and the planet, we also need to bear in mind the way our ancestors operated which was very close to nature. Today, we’ve lost this harmony a little; but I can feel it again here, in the Factory, thanks to these traditions which have been kept up and to which we’ve integrated new technologies. This combination is key and I feel that you achieve this wonderfully”, concludes the president of the Race for Water Foundation.
